Dr. Quillon Arkenstone received his doctorate from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. His dissertation “The Clarté Movement in Japan and Korea 1919-1925” explored the artistic and intellectual origins of proletarian culture in the Japanese empire. His current research interests include early proletarian literature, mystery fiction of the colonial period, and travel literature.
