Jingyi Wang teaches Chinese courses in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, including a course focusing specifically on business Chinese.
Jingyi participated in the Duke Study in China Program (Summer intensive language program, jointly held by Duke university, Washington University in St. Louis, and Wesleyan University) for four summers from 2005 through 2008. Later, she taught Chinese as a foreign language at Capital Normal University, College of International Education. She came to Washington University in St. Louis in 2014 and has been teaching beginning level to advanced level modern Chinese. She currently focuses on third level modern Chinese and Business Chinese. She tries to instruct the learners in such a way that their primary focus is on communication while they practice using the new vocabulary and grammar items. She believes that students greatly develop their grammar awareness when they are engaged in interactive and communicative tasks.
Besides teaching, Jingyi is also the coordinator and organizer of the Chinese program language activities. She is also the moderator of Chinese program’s official social media accounts.
Jingyi is a hobbyist photographer in her spare time. She loves studio portrait, documentary and fine art photography.
