This course examines the production and reception of Japanese animation and comics, with special emphasis on animation techniques and technology, industrial practices, cultural analysis, and fan cultures. Students will learn about the intertwined histories of anime and manga, and engage with contemporary examples. No prerequsites or Japanese language necessary. This course is appropriate for first year students.
