Elsa Chanez, PhD student in Japanese Language and Literature with Graduate Certificate in Translation Studies, has been busy racking up awards! She was selected for a Graduate Student Summer Residency at the National Humanities Center in North Carolina, July 17-21, 2023, where she and her cohort will focus on Creating an Accessible Classroom and Inclusive Curriculum.
Additionally, Elsa has received a Japan Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Award 2023-2024 where she will pursue research towards her dissertation “Traces of France: Reinterpreting Transnational Literature through the Remains of ‘Frenchness’ in Modern Japanese Literature” at Keio University under the guidance of Professor Ogushi Hisayo, a specialist in transnational literature.
