Emily Crichton is a PhD student in the Japanese language and literature program.
Emily holds an MA in Japanese Studies from Sophia University in Tokyo and a BA in Language and Culture Studies from Trinity College in Hartford. Her master’s research project focused on queer themes in Haruki Murakami’s 1Q84. Currently, she is interested in exploring how Japanese novels are transformed by translation and changing cultural contexts when read abroad. In her free time, she enjoys creative writing, crafts, and tabletop games.
