Qingyi Sun is a PhD student in the joint East Asian and Comparative Literatures program.

Qingyi graduated from Fudan University with a BA in History and an undergraduate thesis on the portrayal of “hysterical women” in the print culture of Republican Shanghai (1930s–1940s). She also holds an MA in East Asian Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she completed her master’s thesis on the localization of disco culture during China’s early reform era (1980s–1990s). Currently, she is interested in investigating memories and nostalgia in contemporary Chinese media, performance, and material culture. In her leisure time, she finds joy in singing, dancing, and watching musicals.
