Yue Wang is a PhD student in the Japanese language and literature program.

Yue received her Bachelor's degree from SUNY Fredonia with a focus on American women writers and her Master's degree on Japanese women's dystopian fiction from the University of British Columbia. In her M.A. thesis, she analyzes Murata Sayaka's and Kawakami Hiromi's fictional writings in the dystopian context of birthrate decline, and examines how female characters transgress boundaries and subvert pronatalist ideologies. She is currently interested in how Japanese women writers construct gender and sexuality in political, environmental, and technological dystopian imaginations. In her free time, she enjoys running and playing games.
