Congratulations to Katie Lawhon, who recently received the Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence! Lawhon is currently in her third year in the PhD program in Japanese Language and Literature.  Her research is focused on modern Japanese literature and film, particularly the horror genre.  Katie has taught in courses ranging from introductory Japanese language to film and religious studies, and has brought exceptional professionalism and dedication to every facet of her teaching.  As one of her mentors notes: “Katie represents the very best of Washington University in St. Louis from a pedagogical standpoint. Her students know that they are going to be challenged to perform at the highest levels. But they also know that Katie looks out for each and every one of them, always ensuring that their individual needs are met.”
