Krystel Mowery receives Outstanding Staff Award

Krystel Mowery has been named a recipient of the Graduate Student Senate 2020 Outstanding Staff Award. Graduate students from all of WashU’s campuses nominate staff members who positively impact the graduate student experience. Krystel was chosen for her exceptional graduate student community development, personal relationship building, and advocacy on behalf of graduate students.

"The concern that Krystel has for our students, and for ensuring that the 'system' is meeting their academic—and personal—needs, is truly exceptional," said Marvin Marcus, chair of EALC. "Krystel works closely with our graduate students, who are subject to numerous regulations and requirements pertaining to their studies, travel plans, grants, and so forth. In conjunction with our director of graduate studies, Jamie Newhard, Krystel makes a point of overseeing their programs and shepherding them through what is an often daunting administrative process. In short, we are all the beneficiaries of Krystel's unparalleled administrative savvy, her good judgment, and her genuine concern for the department and for our East Asian Studies program, faculty and students alike."
