Professor Rebecca Copeland shared with students at the Kyoto Consortium for Japanese Studies the challenges faced by translators as well as insider stories of translation. She noted that in addition to the underlying language barrier, peculiar cultural contexts and expectations also play a huge role in the focus of translation.
